Seeds Residency 2025
Workshop description + requirements:#
My workshop explored our presence and perception of reality at the residency/farm through audiovisual media. Drawing from my practise of continuous consumption and actively processing said consumption through video, we investigated how our surroundings shaped our present identities and creative expressions. Actively learning from and engaging in the regenerative practises of the farm, this workshop provided the space and time for the residents to create together. During this workshop, we gathered photo, video, sound and text materials while composing a live a/v set together. How does performing live together reshape what we make individually?
Process#
pre-workshop task for the residents:
- Collect audio, video material you would be interested in using for the work we make. You could find a common thread between everything you gather, but it is not necessary. You are welcome to interpret “material” however you like!
- Something to think about! Regarding working with collected audio-video material, I am curious about two ways to approach it in the composition: 1) pre-decided i.e. each video material has an assigned sound or 2) having them be separate materials that get triggered organically through the performance.
- Reflect on your presence at the farm. How could the regenerative practises of the farm influence your way of living or your artistic practise? And conversely, how does your presence and your activities affect the farm?
workshop activity:
day 1:
- introduction to my practise, the workshop, tools/softwares to use
- introduction to OBS/resolume
- we watch and listen to the material that has been collected (the focus was on the land art piece being developed by the residents)
- thinking about possible live interventions
- live camera
- using MIDI keyboard to trigger clips/effects
day 2:
- working on spatial composition and dramaturgy of our AV set
- recording/collecting any “remaining” pieces of material
